The Faculty of Health Sciences at Palacký University in Olomouc was established in 2008 and focuses on the education of non-medical professionals in healthcare. The faculty has more than 500 students and is a part of one of the leading universities in the Czech Republic.

The Faculty of Health Sciences offers six specialties in Bachelor’s and Master’s study programmes and one doctoral programme in Nursing:

  • General Nursing
  • Radiology Assistance
  • Midwifery
  • Physiotherapy
  • Nursing in Internal Specialty
  • Healthcare Management

The faculty of Health Sciences focuses on education and scientific research in non-medical healthcare disciplines. The main focus is on evidence-based practice in healthcare, multidisciplinary teams in healthcare, life-style limitations resulting from chronic disease, reproductive health, international classification in nursing care and midwifery (3N Alliance), rehabilitation, physiotherapy and kinesiotherapy, non-medical healthcare profession management, and health and social care systems for the elderly and end-of-life stage, job motivation and burnout in the nursing profession.

The faculty also features Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Specialised Subjects and Practical Skills and Centre for Research and Science, which is now part of The Czech Republic (Middle European) Centre for Evidence-Based Health Care: An Affiliated Centre of The Joanna Briggs Institute. The Centre currently works on systematic reviews in four areas.

The faculty also closely cooperates with the university’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and the University Hospital in Olomouc, which is the major and most advanced healthcare provider in the region.
